Barquettes sans noir de carbone : la solution recyclable !
Les barquettes alimentaires noires utilisées dans le secteur alimentaire confèrent à la marque un aspect esthétique luxueux.
Cependant, le pigment noir de carbone utilisé traditionnellement pour la fabrication de ces emballages pose un problème majeur : il entrave le processus de recyclage.
En France, avec la modernisation des centres de tri et l’automatisation des processus, notamment grâce à des séparateurs optiques utilisant la technologie proche infrarouge, la nécessité de repenser la composition des emballages avec du noir de carbone est devenue primordiale.
Le défi du noir de carbone dans le recyclage
Le pigment noir de carbone, couramment utilisé pour obtenir des matériaux aux couleurs sombres, absorbe la lumière infrarouge envoyée par les équipements de tri optique, rendant ces emballages non détectables et, par conséquent, non recyclables.
Ils sont ainsi orientés vers les refus des centres de tri pour une valorisation énergétique, plutôt que recyclés. Cette problématique a poussé le secteur à rechercher des alternatives.
La solution : les barquettes sans noir de carbone
Face aux recommandations du COTREP*, aux évolutions de la loi et conscient des enjeux environnementaux, NEXT a pris l’initiative depuis plusieurs années d’intégrer dans son offre des barquettes sans noir de carbone.
Cette innovation significative est le résultat d’une collaboration étroite entre NEXT, ses fournisseurs de matières plastiques, et les centres de tri, soulignant un engagement commun pour des solutions plus durables.
Systématiquement, NEXT propose désormais aux industriels de l’agro-alimentaire des barquettes fabriquées avec du plastique sans noir de carbone.
Ces nouveaux emballages utilisent des matières d’origine minérales ou végétales pour obtenir la couleur noire, sans les inconvénients du noir de carbone en termes de recyclabilité.
Selon les essais réalisés en centre de tri, les emballages NEXT sans noir de carbone ont montré une meilleure détectabilité. En effet, les systèmes de tri optique fonctionnent grâce à la reconnaissance infrarouge, ou « NIR » (Near Infra Red) ; ils permettent d’identifier le matériau composant la barquette et de la diriger vers la filière de recyclage appropriée.
* COTREP : Comité Technique pour le Recyclage des Emballages Plastiques (qui intègre les organismes Elipso, Valorplast, Citeo et SRP). Il s’agit d’un organisme qui accompagne les industriels dans le développement de solutions d’emballages plastiques recyclables ; au fil des innovations au niveau des filières de recyclage, il émet notamment des avis techniques et des recommandations aux fabricants, afin de les orienter vers des solutions plus vertueuses pour l’environnement.
Les avantages des barquettes sans noir de carbone
- Recyclabilité améliorée : en utilisant des plastiques sans noir de carbone, les barquettes NEXT permettent aux centres de tri de les trier correctement afin de les envoyer dans les filières de recyclage adéquates
- Variété des matières : NEXT est en capacité de proposer différentes matières plastiques sans noir de carbone, comme le PET ou le PP, offrant ainsi une plus grande flexibilité pour s’adapter aux besoins spécifiques des clients.
- Respect de l’environnement : en éliminant le noir de carbone, ces barquettes contribuent à une économie circulaire, à travers la revalorisation des barquettes plastiques dans d’autres applications.
- Dans le sens de la loi : la loi française AGEC* vise à tendre vers “100% de recyclage des emballages en plastique à usage unique” d’ici le 1er janvier 2025. Même si ces barquettes alimentaires n’intègrent pas cette catégorie, améliorer leur recyclabilité va dans le bon sens en termes de responsabilité environnementale
- Un bonus de 8% sur la contribution totale de l’unité de vente consommateur pour les opérateurs économiques qui favoriseront la recyclabilité des emballages, notamment en supprimant le colorant noir de carbone d’un emballage plastique
Le choix de NEXT de développer des barquettes sans noir de carbone illustre parfaitement comment l’innovation et la responsabilité environnementale peuvent aller de pair. En adoptant ces solutions, les entreprises alimentaires peuvent non seulement améliorer l’aspect de leurs produits mais aussi contribuer activement à la réduction des déchets plastiques ultimes.
